Racha, a magnificent region of Georgia, captivates visitors with its breathtaking nature, pleasant climate, majestic Caucasus glaciers, delightful regional cuisine, and the warm hospitality of the Rachan people. This hidden gem proves to be a veritable paradise for mountain vacation enthusiasts and adventurous thrill-seekers alike.
Located at the foot of the Caucasus Mountains and near the head of the Rion River, the village of Ghebi offers a unique opportunity to fully immerse oneself in the beauty of the high mountain Racha. Hosting tourists for seven years, the hospitable locals, Omar Lobjanidze and his wife Malgorzata run the charming "Ghebi Adventure Holidays," a family hotel that caters to visitors seeking thrilling adventures and delightful gastronomic experiences.
Their family hotel welcomes guests with many exciting activities, including adventure and gastronomic tours and hikes, engaging culinary masterclasses, isotherapy sessions (also known as horse therapy), horse riding experiences, and mountain safety training. The hotel, thoughtfully renovated and equipped with the help of generous donors, can accommodate up to 15 guests throughout the year, making it a perfect destination in all four seasons.
Malgorzata's deep passion for Georgia and her extensive exploration of local mountains, extreme hiking trails, and horse riding routes have enriched the offerings of "Ghebi Adventure Holidays." Combining her expertise with Omar Lobjanidze's profound knowledge of the local environment, history, and traditions, the couple has successfully transformed their passion for adventure tourism into a thriving business venture.
With the support of the European Union, Sweden, and Austria, within the framework of the GRETA project, Ghebi Adventure Holidays received substantial and necessary support for its proper functioning.
"With the help of donors, we received the necessary equipment and supplies for adventure tourism. Our requests included tents, sleeping bags, jeeps, and walkie-talkies. Additionally, as part of the project, they furnished us with a sauna, a shower cabin, and other equipment utilised in the mountains.”- Omar Lobjanidze tells us about the support.
"Ghebi Adventure Holiday" welcomes visitors throughout all seasons of the year. During winter, guests are treated to freerides on trackless snow, descents on extreme roads, and even sledging with bulls. This unique form of entertainment is particularly cherished by the elderly and disabled individuals who have a deep affection for winter activities but may face physical limitations when it comes to skiing.
Racha offers undamaged and breathtaking nature; there are very few places like this on Earth today. With its soaring mountains, beautiful peaks and glaciers, delicious Georgian cuisine, and the tradition of welcoming and hosting guests, Racha becomes a paradise for travel enthusiasts." - says Malgorzhata, who is deeply in love with Georgia.
One of the exquisite summer tours offered by "Ghebi Adventure Holiday'' is a 7-day horse trek in the pristine wilderness, 3000 meters above sea level, circling the breathtaking Chveshura River and Notsara Valley. This tour provides a perfect blend of activities, including horseback riding, trekking expeditions, rock climbing adventures, essential minimal survival skills training, the therapeutic practice of isotherapy (also known as horse therapy), and field workshops.
With generous donor support, "Ghebi Adventure Holiday" has laid the foundation for its development and progress. In the near future, the plan includes setting up a new and comfortable guest house, producing organic products, and preparing exciting new tourist routes, while also maintaining and enhancing existing mountain routes and bases. The dedication and vision of Omar Lobjanidze and Malgorzata have played a pivotal role in driving these plans forward.
With the support of the European Union, Sweden, and Austria, "Ghebi Adventure Holiday" has secured its position on the tourist map and become a remarkable example of adventure tourism's growth in Georgia's mountainous region despite the challenging natural conditions.
